Why are my friends acting strange?

Default profile image
I've become really good friends with some of my med school classmates. We hang out quite a lot. A few days ago, we went out to dinner, and they suddenly brought up setting me up with one of the med students in our class that was also in our circle of friends. They asked if i would ever go out with (insert name here) I told them i don't know because i never thought about it and we don't talk much, since he's really quiet. My friends then got sad, which I thought was weird. One of my friends brought it up before last year, but i didn't think much of it. Now... i'm suspecting something is up....I asked them why they were asking me this, but they said they're just wondering. They kept pressing the issue at dinner, so i'm thinking something's up. Why are they acting weird?

I am thinking perhaps that this quiet guy your friends are so concerned about may have asked them to see if you were interested in him. Do you think you could like him or should you firmly tell your friends you are not interested? That way, the guy finds out what's what gently via your friends without being actually turned down by you in an embarrassing face-to-face situation.

You can not know someone very well but still be attracted to them, physically or emotionally.
