I want to ask what others thought about the money me and my husband have coming in and about buying gifts for each other. he works full time and gets £1800 a month. he pays the rent of £675, the gas, electric, other bills and some food now and then. i get child benefit of £33.70 a week and tax credits of £110 a week. i buy the food most of the time, money for driving lessons for my son which is £35 a week, petrol for my car £20 a week, money to the kids if they need things from the shop or sweets of £10. i also pay creditors each month and car break down cover and tv insurance which all comes to about £110. he gets paid and it is all gone after a few days. we only go out about once a month, dont gamble, dont smoke and i will buy myself two bottles of cheap wine which is £5 a week. with his income and what i get is that enough for a family of five?. now i wanted to ask about buying gifts and receiving them. he never buys me anything except pays for a meal if we go out. i pay for my own hair cuts, drink, and anything else i need. i would love a bunch of flowers or chocolates every blue moon but dont get them and i would love to get them and he knows this but says because of the money but even if he had it i couldnt see him buying me anything. after 20 years together i think you should still try and make the effort as i do feel taken for granted and i have bought him little things but dont anymore because he doesnt with me. should i be happy i get taken for a meal now and then?
