Leave it be?

I have been dating this guy for the last year and I just found out that he was married for 3 years previously but he said it is part of his life he wants to forget, and it was a terrible experience. I know that everyone has a past but I am not sure how to feel about it, he is so secretive. So I took it upon myself to go through his pockets and I found receipts that put him in San Diego when he told me he was in Las Vegas, don't know if I should question him about it or leave it be, I went through his pockets which makes me the bad guy, I mean I don't tell him everything I do, I have my secrets to. We don't live together. Am I staying in a relationship based on lies? So confused….
