He said he isn't ready

A few weeks I've met up with some old friends from childhood and as the group got smaller we decided to go dancing. As I was dancing with one of the guys he asked if he could kiss me and we did and spent the night together. As we approached my home we talked and he said that he didn't plan all this and was taken by surprise. He told me he never had a real serious relationship, that he wouldn't want to drag me in those kind of short relationships and that he wants to be friends while he solves the troubles in his life. Even though I agreed with it I still just want to see him and I don't know if it's okay... we barely talked on facebook since then and I'm scared to call him just to hang out without sounding pushy or desperate. I don't know how to react in these situations since I for one never had a relationship and I'm in my early twenties.
