How to get his interest back?

I have a crush on this guy. (He just broke up with his GF for last 2-3 months, but he's single now) He used to be my classmate in 2011. We have been hanging out together as a group for nearly a month now. We don't usually text to each other unless we need to discuss where and when we should hang out. He was always the one who offered to pick me up even though I refused because I could catch a bus easily from where I lived. (I guess he was just being nice). I have asked him out 1-2 times before and he always said yes. There was a night when we were watching movie, he tried to move and sit close to me for 4-5 times although I tried to move away from him. The next time when we hanged out again, he tried to sit next to me again while we were watching movie. Then he put his hand on my thigh for a couple of second and he took his hand off. The day when we went to the beach, when we got home, when my friend left, I told her to kiss me goodbye (just a joke) and she refused. Then my crush (who was sitting right next to me again) turned to me and kissed me on my cheek. That night, when we were watching movie, I don't really remember what I said to him before I stood up and got some water, he put his hand around my waist. I was surprised so I stood up quickly and got some water. I didn't understand why he acted normally when all of our friends were there, but he acted like he felt for me after most of them were gone (only 1-2 left) However, just last week, when I sent him a text via facebook to ask him where we should hang out with our friends, he didn't reply. I told my other friend about it and then that friend told him that I was angry because he didn't reply to my text. But since then he never replied or talked to me. On this Tuesday, he created an event on facebook as usual so we could hangout, when I tried to talk to him about the hanging out, he was like avoiding me. He just replied to others' msg. Did he lose interest in me? Or is it just that he didn't like me in the first place? What should I do now? Should I try and ask him out and talk about it? My sister said if I asked him out, he'd know that I like him and he'd get bored and never chase after me.

@Susiedq: I didn't even think that he likes me. If a guy likes a girl, he should text her or ask her out sometimes. But I was always the one who text and ask him out :( @Whatsup: I'm 20 and he's 21 this year :)
