How do I get him to know I like him?

So I go to school with this guy, Dante. I've never really had an interest in him. He's pretty cool. Not the most liked person ever, but I have no problem with him. Well, this year I was asked by my friend if I wanted to volunteer at a haunted house. I said sure and later found out him and his brother volunteers there too. My friend and I worked th6e top of the slide in this haunted house and he worked the bottom. In between groups of people either he would come up and talk to us as we waited or we'd go down to him. I started to kind of like him, but I thought it would only be one of those crushes that I'd have for a few days, then I'd forget about it, so I pushed the feeling away. Well, a week later I still had feelings for him. The same thing happened when we volunteered at the haunted house that next weekend. After the last night of the haunted house, we went to Kash's house and had a bonfire to celebrate because this year the haunted house broke it's all-time record of 1534 people and it was rated 5 stars. Dante five of my friends, and I were all there. Dante and I talked briefly and kept exchanging glances all night. By then, I knew I had really fallen for him, but the fact that he does have a bit of a temper and he parties, drinks, smokes, and does drugs complicates things. I don't mind that he does those things. It's his life. He can do what he wants. I just don't want to be pressured into anything if I do even become his friend of maybe even more. I just don't know how to approach him or even hint that I have an interest in him or how to get him to feel the same about me. Should I start talking to him on social media or start by just saying hello every now and then in the hallway at school and work my way up to actually talking to him. I just don't know wh6at to do. (I'm really shy btw so any advice telling me to bold more than likely won't help.)Thanks for reading and hopefully someone will be able to help me.
