Parents

Ever since I was a little girl I dram of getting out of this small town. Meet new people, do community service in other countries so I started working really hard in high school so that I could get into a good college. I found a great one which is one hour and a half from where I live, it had everything diversity , clubs, even a program to study abroad. I got accepted and they university even got me enough money to pay for 4 years and I had to worried for only two. My parents forced me to stay in this town, we have a community college here and so im going there. I turned 19 a month ago and since then I feel like Im not doing anything with my life I don't feel good about my self I feel like failure. now I have to worry on how im going to pay 4 years of college instead of just 2, my parents think that everything is easier because im here. I like to say that my parents are the best but i will never forgive the fact that they made me loose a great opportunity. this just simply makes me feel useless and a big failure.

Who would actually be paying your way through college? You or your parents? I'm including living costs etc as well as tuition fees. Does going to the community college mean you can live at home while going? Are your parents focussing on cost? I didn't go till I was 30 and so wasn't an issue for me, but I have friends from uni that are a mix of people that went away for uni and some were locals. I'm guessing from the way this post is written you are in usa? That being so I'm aware that more than here in uk (with a few exceptions) which uni you go to is a major factor when it comes to job hunting. Are your parents expecting you to stay in your home town all your life and in a low-mid level job etc? There is so much to consider. But also consider this, you are still young and therefore as you get older you can change your relationship with your parents, you could also go to a better uni for post grad studies or do a different undergraduate degree. Also as you become more independent you can travel and experience more of life and the world. You won't always be tied to your parents wishes.
