Healing from a horrible past is hard... advice?

I'm 25 and have a rly confusing, awful past and nothing can really be" fixed" about it at this point. I had issues with anxiety which ruined friendships and relationships, didnt rly follow my heart...and was left with regrets and bad memories.
The good news is, after a couple years of reflection and working on me, I feel more like my old self again more n more. The bad news is that those moments leave as quickly as they come sometimes--which is frustrating. I exercise and I'm gonna start doing affirmations more, these both help.
I just want to know...anyone who has healed from something similar--what is the healing process like? How do you handle the not-so-great moments and stay focused? Thanks!!!
Whatever they are or more likely were, I have the same problems on recovering and forgetting and can only say time will tell. Try to erase the painful stuff and train your mind to distract from the memories of the past and look to the future, even tomorrow is what I do and try and build something positive in to it; if there is nothing concrete to look forward to.
The healing is difficult, I have rules and regulations that haunt me, but luckily I have a very supportive family and we manage and all know it will take time.
Good luck.
