Does she want me?

I met this girl when I changed schools and we were both new there and we became each other's best friends. We talked about anything and we had lunch together every day. About an year ago, unfortunately we stopped talking but this year we started talking again and this time even more intimately. The thing is, I fell for her since our first year as friends but I didn't ask her out, out of fear of losing our friendship. She's still my best friend and she told me she would've date me at that time, but now she doesn't want to date anyone, and that's the sole reason she doesn't want me right now (at least according to her). The problem is that I invited her to my birthday party and she made terrible excuses to why she couldn't go, and now I'm confused how she feels about me. I love this girl, and I think about her all the time, but it's getting harder and harder to know how she feels about me.

Have u tried just asking her how she feels or just telling her how u feel about her? Sometimes I know in situations in my life I just didn't know ppl felt a certain way because they never said anything.instead of leaving it like a guessing game just tell her. The worst that could happen is she won't feel the same way but at least you'll know. And you never know until you just talk to her. And if she's not interested there are plenty of fish in the sea and it just wasnt meant to be. Idk if u care for her as u say u do just tell her then respect her response and boundaries that's all u can really do. Anyways I hope some of this could be of some help.
