Marriage on verge of being over before it begins

My husband and I have been married for 6 months. We have been together for a year and expecting our first child in a few months. He hates my 15 year old cat and is at the end of his rope with it. We fight everyday about it. He just doesn't like cats and thinks they smell. He said our child he will never accept it being around the cat. I am so attached to the cat, the thought of getting rid of him makes me break into tears. I don't know what to do. Please help!

Why is the the cat an issue now? you've been together for over a year? Wasn't he aware of your cat? Even though he hates your cat remind him that this cat has been part of your life for the last 15 years? Do you have any friends or family that could take the cat?

Yes he was fully aware of my cat when we first got together. He claims he "tried" but can no longer live with him. He says I'm choosing my cat over him. I have tried to talk to him several times as to why the cat is important to me, but all I get from him is that life is different now and I should be looking to the future. I wish I had someone who could take the cat but i already asked around and it is not an option. I can't just give the cat away I don't think I'll ever forgive myself. I also don't want my marriage to end but again what choice am I being left with? I lose no matter what.

An animal lover myself I understand how hard this is for you. Is the cat doing anything that is making him so uncomfortable? What does he mean he has "tried" Since he knew about your cat you've had for 15 years and what this cat means to you, it's up to him whether he leaves or stays. I had a BF who didn't care for cats he was tormenting my cat when I was away. The sound of my BF car engine would cause my cat to freak out and become so frantic she would hide for days. In the end I did choose my cat,I couldn't be with someone who would intentionally torment and harm any innocent animal. I would not give up my cat.
