From student to worker

Hi, this is the first time I have ever used this forum (or any others like it), so I'am not sure exactly how this is going to sound... I have recently went from being a student to being in quite an intensive job where you have to take work home with you and work with a lot of responsibility hanging on your shoulders. I have been getting reviews to make sure I am doing the job right and they had all been fine until today when I was given feedback in which the negative far outweighed the positive. I know it sounds stupid, but I feel really quite down about this and that all my hard work through uni and beyond has still not been good enough to take me up to scratch in my observer's eyes. It would not be so bad, but I really respect the person who has given my feedback this time and wanted to show her how well I can do. (I also felt that I had done ok at the time, which also made me feel worse). I would really appreciate any advice anyone has.

Do not feel too down about it. Since this is the first time where your reviews have not been too good, take this as a learning experience. The negative feedback will help you be an even better employee, because you don't want to make the same mistakes over again, and you don't want everyone telling you everything is fine when it may not be. Be glad for any feedback you receive. Plus, if you don't think the one giving you negative comments is being fair, then maybe ask others (who you know will give you an honest answer) what they think about your work. Keep your chin up, there is always tomorrow. TILES
