We're in love, but he won't say yes to dating

We've known each other for 3 years and knew right away we had a special connection. But we both were seeing other people, so we agreed to stay friends. Over the course of the 3 years, we grew closer and our feelings for each other grew. No matter how much we fought, we always found our way back to each other. Now, we're both single and I have confessed to him that I've been in love with him since day one. He keeps telling me that he feels the same and that we will be together, but anytime I bring it up and ask when, he changes the subject. Today, he got mad at me because I was talking to another guy that I've been friends with since high school. He gets all jealous and possessive. I wasn't flirting with the guy, just talking. I told him that he didn't really have any right to be mad when aren't dating and that if he didn't want me to talk to other guys, then we should be together. Now, he's not talking to me. I don't know what to do or how to approach him. Please someone help. Thank you.

Tell him to mind his business. Even if he was dating you, he still has no right to tell you not to talk to other people. This should give you a heads up as to what sort of a guy you have fallen in love with. Furthermore, he now is giving you the silent treatment which says it all...controlling and insecure. Approach him? why bother? the ball's in his court at the moment. Find yourself a mature guy who won't leave you hanging and whose actions show respect for you and who you are.
