Can my friend get arrested for making racist jokes?

My friend who makes a lot of these kind of stupid jokes was on an online forum and said that Africans all dance round campfires and that he wanted to avoid the blacks because they would be wearing orange jumpsuits in a few years one of the people on the website said that their brother in law worked for the police and that they had shown them and that they had shown them screenshots and that the police and the website would track his IP address and arrest him Can this really be done? I know what he said was stupid and offensive but it was obviously meant in a light hearted way and it's not as if anyone's at danger, getting the police involved is just way too far I think given there's thousands of racist stuff said every day and much, much worse crimes going on Do you think my friend is actually going to get arrested?

Don’t know what will happen to your friend. I would tell your friend to be careful what he says in certain online groups. Now, if the groups he talks with get his humor and everything is just fine, then there shouldn’t be a problem. It depends on forum rules. There have been instances though where people have lost jobs and friends because of what they say online…and there have been times when comments get people in trouble with police.
