Girl problem

My name is David and I am 19 years old. I met this girl last summer who I had some mutual friends with and I started liking her right away. She was flirting with at the beginning and then stopped because she thought I liked someone else. So I thought she didn't like me, so I moved on with my life. The more I got to know her, I found out that she is a flirty person in general and that she flirts with a lot of the guys she knows. For some reason, I couldn't stop thinking about her. It got to the point where I couldn't keep it in anymore and I told her how I felt. She said that she was kind of into someone else at the time. It sucked for a few weeks and I eventually got over it and I stopped thinking about her as much. Then a month ago she told me that she liked me all along and that she wanted to see where things would go with me. She said she wanted to take it slow, so I did. We shared a few kisses, but we were both pretty busy for the two weeks after we started hanging out. Then one night she texted me saying that we had different interests and that she thought it would be best if we should be just friends. I said it was fine, even though it really wasn't. The week after that was awkward, as I expected. So manned up and I texted her trying to clean it all up and now we are back on good terms. However, I still find myself thinking about her all the time and I really want to be with her. Within this past week we have started talking again and things with another guy didn't work out with her. She has started being flirty with me again, but I can't tell where she is coming from with it all. The two weeks when we were close seemed to go really well and she broke it off with no real explanation. I'm wondering if there is still something there. I just don't want to tell her how I feel just for her to shoot me down again. I'm trying to play it cool, but honestly it is killing me. Part of me feels like she is playing me, but part of me also wants her so bad.

David, That is rough...unrequited love is the worst. It can be hard to tell what other people want and are thinking. My first thought is that she is young and not interested in getting into too much with any one guy.....she seems to enjoy being free and jumping around. But it could very well be that things were so casual between the two of you she didn't give it much thought, as you have. So I'd suggest seeing if you and she can get together and do something....go skating or meet up for lunch or something fun. Then at the end, be direct and tell her, hey...I've missed you, I'd really like to see more of you. Or whatever you're feeling. Don't assume she knows. This way the ball is in her court, and you can finally know how she feels, then you can move forward (with or without her). Good luck! Tara
