Misunderstanding or love at first sight?

My friend (Amber) has a brother (Michael). I have really liked Michael for a few weeks. Nobody has made a move yet, even though we have both told each other that we want to date. The only problem is that we have been distant lately. It has been a couple weeks since we have talked. His sister has said that he still likes me. I want to date him so bad, but I do not know what to do. Should I talk to him as much as possible and get him to fall for me? I really like him. What should I do?

I have the same situation before during school time. Because I wasn't sure did he really like me, and afraid I might get reject and embarrassed if he doesn't like me. So what I did is I wait for an occasion and ask him out to celebrate really casually. It's my first pay day, so I text him that I wish to celebrate my first pay day, lets go for a drink? If he did come or arrange another day, use that meet-up to get to know each other and move on from there :)
