Upset over ex

Hi.. i just wanted some advice about a situation that i found myself in the other day with my bf who i have been seeing for afew months. I was told that an ex of mine had tragically passed away by a friend. Naturally, even though my ex and I broke up more than 3 years ago, I was shocked about it. I let my bestfriend know and she called me .. really because we had all been at school together and it was a shock for her too. Later that day I told my bf and he went all funny on me and basically implied that my bestfriend had called me to console me! Which was ridiculous as i had not seen my exbf for years. I explained to my current bf that me and my bestfriend had been to school together with this guy and that it had made me realise how fragile life could be.. here one minute.. gone the next and that was all. He then apologised and said that he had been wrong to assume that I still held some kind of torch for my ex. With only dating my current guy for a few months, just wanted some advice. Am I over reacting and just let things go? My bf is loving, caring and generous otherwise, but this is a side i have not seen of him before.

I think he was just a little bit insecure and that is why he had reacted in that way. I'm sure you have nothing to worry about. Sorry for you loss by the way.

As you said you have only been dating this guy for a few months. I would hope you dont think you know everything about him. Building a relationship with a guy takes time. So you will be learning more and more about him as time goes so dont be so surprised when he reacts the way you didnt expect. The one thing all guys will always be insecure about is the ex boyfriend. no matter what you say or do in the back of the guys head is that you were attracted to him, you had some sort of emotional relationship with your ex before him. Jealousy is a compliment that walks a fine line, If it was just a little bit of a reaction you have nothing to worry about, you should comfort him and let him know that he has nothing to worry about, as long as that is the case. I hope this helps
