Am I being unreasonable?

Am I being unreasonable? My girlfriend and I live together and are both Chess enthusiasts. We play on the internet with people from all over. Until recently, we both knew each others user name and logon passwords. Then she changed her details, started doing a lot of typing during her games including ‘til 2 or 3 in the morning. She was very coy about me seeing what she was typing. I began to get suspicious. Then, in the come-up to Christmas, she began suggesting she much work to do and that it is best if I visit my family alone after Christmas itself for a few days as she would be busy. I got very suspicious and asked if she intended to meet someone. She said yes but insisted it was only a meeting with someone to play Chess with over the board and to plan a group Chess meet-up (which members do). She refused to tell me who she was meeting but kept saying ‘no relationship, just friends and just Chess’. She claims she needs a friend to talk to sometimes. I was very upset that she arranged to meet her Chess Internet male friend. This person was willing to travel about a 100 miles to meet my girlfriend. Even if my girlfriend is telling the truth, that there is no affair going on, I find it hard to believe someone would be willing to travel so far just to play chess. My girlfriend insists he is harmless but I think he must want a ‘bit more’ and he is playing a game. But, she just says I am silly and that she will not have an affair. She says she has the right to make friends. But, I am suspicious of this guy’s motives. What do others think?

I wouldn't trust her, personally. It sounds like the kind of thing I would say if I was going to cheat on my girlfriend. Maybe to start with, the idea is that they are just friends, but if they do find an attraction, then you could well be out of the picture. Don't spit your dummy out yet, but make sure that you get all the facts together that you can, in order to arrive at a well made decision. Maybe even invite the person to your house, so that the 3 of you can play (or 4 if he has someone to bring)... that way, you can check out the body language and make up your own mind. Good luck sussing it out, and hope that you are over cautious about this!
