Will he get back together with me?

So me and my boyfriend have been dating for a year and a half and we love each other so much. Our relationship isn't perfect but he's always been the sweetest and he always tells me that no body matters but me. We've talked about having a future together and we love the thought of getting married. This year he moved to the west coast of the U.S. while I'm stuck on the east. We've talked everyday and we miss each other a lot. In conversations he'll randomly say that he misses me. I recently just visited him a month ago and stayed for awhile and everything was perfect we were happy it was like living together but last week he just randomly told me that he wants to break up and experience other girls cuz I'm his first everything. We've tried this before but we've had a break. He would come back in a couple days sad and saying he wants me back. This time its different cuz its an actual break up. He tells me that we'll get back together just not now. He originally planned for us to get back together next year after I'm doing my schooling for the U.S. Navy and I get stationed where he is. I just don't get what happened is it because of the distance thing?
