How important is communication in a relationship

I have a GF with some issues when she is upset or whatever we can talk about it with being judged. I ask often 'are you happy' etc because I am usually picking up on something she is not telling me. Anyway, when I ask I am not asking in a needy way, just in a kind way and I am happy to accept the answer and the conversation can move on. Is this ok in a relationship? I mean isn't important to share fears and thoughts with each other?

I think that honesty and communication are the most important factors in a relationship. Remember, no one is a mind reader. If you can't talk to each other about anything and everything, well, then what do you have?
