How do I get him to talk to me more?

i'm under the impression that a classmate/friend likes me. However, because he is shy, i don't know for sure. Our mutual friends keep asking me whether or not i would go out with him, but i did not know how to answer the question because I didn't think about it before. I was a little annoyed that they kept bringing it up, so I asked them why they kept asking me if i would ever go out with him, and they told me they were either teasing or just curious. I have noticed that he stares at me occasionally. What i find odd is that we don't talk. Being shy myself, i am more comfortable interacting with women. He does not talk to me very much, but it seems he does not have a problem interacting with the other women in our class, which makes me wonder why he hardly talks to me. How do I get him to talk to me more? I try to talk to him, but i really don't know what to say, since i'm not particularly good at talking with guys, and do not know much about him. If he does like me, why doesn't he talk to me more, and how do i get him to start talking to me?

Well being a guy, if I like a girl it's hard to talk I freez most guys do. If he is shy just talk to him about something general he won't bite. And if what you say is true about the staring he likes you, speacialy the fact that he talks to other girls not you, that means seem attractive in his eyes. hope this helped
