Being too sensitive or was he being disrespectful?

My fiance and I were with 2 of his/our male friends visiting and watching television. Larry King came on the television and I made a statement in regards to his age and about him being married 8 times. There was some discussion about it and I made a joking comment on how his wives just keep getting younger and younger and his bank account keeps getting bigger and bigger. Everyone laughed and one of the guys said something about Hugh Hefner being the same way. I said there is no way that these guys would get a young wife without them being rich and famous. They women only marry them for the money and the exposure they can get. The guys started making comments and discussing it and my fiance says "there isn't a guy alive that wouldn't trade places with Hugh Hefner if given the chance". I just looked at him and said "really??? would you????"....he paused for a minute and then changed it to say "except me". I didn't want to make a big deal of the statement in front of our friends but I was a little hurt with that statement. Am I over reacting or was he being insensitive and disrespectful?

I think you did the right thing by saying "really? Would you?" It made him think. I don't think he meant it, he just got carried away with all the talk. It was a knee jerk statement. Don't take it to heart, not one bit. I would have laughed and said "you owe me a little something special for that remark" and just moved on. It was a stupid thing for him to say but he saw that when you brought it to his attention and I bet he felt silly and maybe a little embarrassed after.
