I approchaed a CFO of a company on Linkedin and he liked my pofile and suggested he would get back to me; But I think I screwd it up by writing stupid emails, I just want a sum1 neutral to read the email conversation and tell me their opinion; Dear CFO, Thank you so much for the response. It would be really nice for me to have a look at that presentation. I am sincerely hoping for the positive outcome of AFE approval process. Best regards, capricozee Hi capricozee, We are in the process of transferring our email, Web hosting and website from our affiliate company in London to a UAE based tech company. Email was the first priority. Website and storage of key technical data (seismic and other geological data) is the next phase. There are some legal issues we are working through to finalize and get our website back on line. In the coming days I will send you an investor presentation that should provide you some good background. How does that sound? CFO Sent from my Samsung Galaxy smartphone. -------- Original message -------- From:capricozee Date:03/09/2014 06:53 (GMT+04:00) To: CFO Subject: Re: CV Dear CFO, With reference to our email conversation last week about the possible role of financial controller. Would it be ok for me to ask for any links that I could browse to view the company profile? Or any other sources that would help me know more about the company, its size, operations and geographic interests. Thanking you once again for your time and consideration. Best regards, capricozee thanks capricozee, I like your experience. We share a xxx company past. Your xxx education means you have the technical credentials. No promises but I will definitely get back to you in the due course. Regards, xxxx

Er... Stupid HOW? I didn't see anything stupid? You showed you have the credentials and experience AND, most importantly, showed you're a serious contender by asking for his aid in your researching the background/etc. of the company that bit further. Sounds to me simply like right now isn't exactly ideal for him to sort you out with links,...him caught up in something right now, that's all, hence his promise to send you the presentation 'in the coming days'. But that doesn't mean he wouldn't still appreciate your show of mild persistence (an FC has to be proactive, surely?). So which aspects are you deeming stupid?

Capricozee, the fact that you have approached the company without them having to advertise a vacancy gives them a heads up of your interest and enthusiasm to further your career. Your emails asking for more information further reinforces your interest to work for them. Your actions are speaking. Your credentials have been acknowledged and if the CFO has put it on paper (email) that he will get back to you, then he owes it to you to do just that. If he doesn't, then it tells you just what sort of a company they are because all companies will tell you that they value their employees but it's the ones that follow through with this, that are the ones worth working for. And while CFOs and CEOs are approached daily via sites like Linkedin by job seekers, the fact that you have had a positive response(investor presentation & liking your personal experience)should tell you everything. Do yourself a favour and Google the company to find out everything you can about them as well as reading 'between the lines' of the investor presentation. With all due respect, I do hope that you addressed the CFO by his first name and that you signed off your emails using your real name and that what we see in your post regarding this, just respects the privacy of all involved. Good Luck
