What does he want from me?

I am 22 years old and in college and a month ago I was drinking at a party and I ended up kissing my friend(he's 24), we went to my apartment and talked and kissed all night and it felt really nice actually. He contacted me the day after and a few days here and there after that. Last week I was at his place and we ended up having sex and he told me things felt weird between us and he felt like that after the first time we hooked up too, but he liked being with me.. But we stayed and talked in bed and then he said it felt less weird but still strange. Here's the tricky part.. He didn't want to keep things going at first, he thought that maybe this wasn't a good idea(for different reasons).. but then he changed his mind and said we should take it slow. Anyway it seemed like I was more into it than him but since last week he's been getting in touch with me and texting me and talking to me quite a lot, which is very confusing for me because he's the one feeling weird about all of this. Why is contacting me this much if he's so skeptical to all of this? I genuinely like him, but this is hard when he can't seem to make up is mind about what he wants from me.
