Shy Guy or Not Interested?

So a while back I asked this guy I now have a crush on at work to hang out with me on my 21st birthday, at the time I thought he was cute but wasn't crushing on him, I asked him to hang woth me cause I pretty much have no friends that's 21 or over and I don't want to drink alone on my birthday. Anyway I don't know when but I soon started crushing on him and went to seek the help of this older woman at work who is close to everyone their to see what type of girl he likes or is into. Well she made it known that someone liked him but she wouldn't say who (according to her I was the first person he guessed). Well a day or two later I tell one of my best friends at work and she hints to him also that someone likes him and again I'm the first one he guesses. Well fast forward after two or three days of begging my best friend he finds out it's me cause she gave him my number and said just text her, well he did and we talked a bit but the reason he guessed me is because I had asked him to go out with me on my birthday that's it. Well now, it's like he knows I like him and I've had multiple people ask him how he felt about me and well he said he'd have to hang out with me to see I he likes me, but he seems interested. My problem is it seems like he's only interested in hanging with me on my birthday (he said he'd supply a bottle or two) but I want to hang out with him before hand just cause my birthday isn't until Feb. but I'm to shy to ask him out and afraid off rejection. Plus the older lady whose helped I asked for in the beginning said he seems interested but might be shy as well. I don't know what to do or I he's as interested in me as they say he is.

The fact is, he knows you like him so if he doesn't want to DO anything about it until as far off as February, then...pff! - who KNOWS what his problem is? Probably still got a girlfriend on the way out but hasn't finished things with her yet, and reckons he'll have done the dreaded deed by then? I agree, that attitude isn't exactly flattering or impressive, though. HOWEVER, if you do his job for him by doing the asking out, you'll be setting a dynamic whereby he won't ever take the initiative, meaning you'll end up the man and he the woman (mmm, sexy) (not). Please trust me: even shy guys can step up when the urge to gain something is strong enough. Plus, HE can't be afraid of rejection because he's alredy had enough signs of getting a Yes guaranteed. Yep, he's either at the tail-end of another relationship (which no-one in the office is aware of because he's a very private type) or is in pursuit of another woman (ditto) OR he's in a relationship that has nothing wrong with it per se except for him being a two-timing basstud. But that's beside your point, he could be flippin' Spider Man after hours for all you know. All you DO know and all YOU should be focussed on is the fact that he knows you'd say yes if he asked you out yet he isn't, and there has to be some reason for that (which *doesn't* include some female-friendly and -cooked-up excuse like, 'he's just shy, ahhhh'). Wasn't too shy to basically tell you to wait until February, note, was he. (Actions!!)
