Not sure how to deal with work colleague!?

I recently thought a work colleague was interested, but i now have come to the realization that i was wrong. He knows this and he has recently e-mailed me to tell me not to worry and he apologized for any misunderstanding. Since the e-mail which he sent me last thursday we both knew that we was going 2 bump into each other at work, so i thought it would be easy to just blank him if he tried to acknowledge me, due to me feeling silly and stupid and i thought that if i didn't acknowledge him it would help me to move on from this situation, but when i did try and do that, he tried on several occasions to get me to acknowledge him as he kept trying to say hi and give me eye contact every time we past each other. The day before he sent this e-mail, he was ignoring me, but when i later walked past him, i turned round and he was staring at me. I can;t speak to him in work as he his never on his own. Please give some suggestions.

Hi there confusedsole,you are lucky that he helped you by telling you it was a misunderstanding.I say this because ANY workplace relationship is a bad choice.
